Welcome to Huckleberry Preschool!

Hello to all the incredible families discovering our preschool!

I’m Heather Carter, and it brings me immense pleasure to invite you into the world of Huckleberry Preschool, nestled in the heart of Pullman, WA. Here, we’re passionately committed not just to preparing your child for kindergarten but to laying a robust academic foundation for all their future learning.

Embracing the principle that we should "make the child ready for the road, not the road ready for the child," our approach is designed to cultivate school readiness, a critical goal supported by educators across our community.

Drawing inspiration from my mother’s profound legacy in early education, our programs are carefully crafted to imbue children with not only emotional resilience and social skills but also a strong academic grounding. At Huckleberry, your child will be engaged in a balanced curriculum that nurtures their intellect through literacy, math, science, and creative arts, ensuring they develop the skills to follow rules, collaborate with peers, and approach learning with curiosity and confidence.

We eagerly anticipate welcoming you and embarking on this transformative educational adventure together!

With warmest regards,

Heather Carter

"The first thing my son shared with me after attending Heather's preschool was about "finding spring" and exploring outside. Heather always makes sure to get outside each day, which is where my son really thrives. He loves that they dance, read and sing through books, and do a lot of tactile activities. As a parent, I have loved seeing evidence of play and the exploration of all of the senses.

Heather has mentioned that she over-plans, but I love that she has so much knowledge to give to my son and his peers, and that she spends time planning unique activities to cater to her students' interests and learning needs."

Kari W.

"Huckleberry has been a great preschool for my child! Heather’s intentional and carefully thought out curriculum, environment, and variety of activities is very important to me as a trained school psychologist.

I love that beyond academic readiness, Heather focuses on social emotional learning and lots of guided play and exploration (they go outside everyday!), which is so developmentally appropriate for this age. As a mother, her interest in and experience with young children shines through her relationships with the children—my child loves being there and asks if she can go everyday! "

Lindsay W

"Having seen Heather Carter's remarkable way with my own toddlers, I'm confident that Huckleberry Preschool will be exceptional. Heather's patience, creativity, and genuine love for children are unmatched. I fully recommend Huckleberry Preschool for its anticipated nurturing environment and outstanding early learning experience."
